These are the best Android phones under $200 available in 2023. Our list suggests several cheap Android phones that are perfect for people on a budget. You don’t need to sign a contract or spend $800+ for a good experience and so these are affordable phones we comfortably recommend.
With expensive phones like the Galaxy S23 and Pixel 7 Pro heavily advertised, sometimes buyers forget about cheaper options. If you haven’t been paying attention, you won’t know what’s good or what to buy.
Finding a great Android phone is really easy, but finding a good phone that’s also cheap, isn’t. There are dozens of cheap budget smartphones with awful screens, poor performance, outdated software, and terrible battery life. That’s what we want to help you avoid.
Table of Contents
This is our shortlist of recommended phones, read on for more details and links to buy one below. Additionally, if you can afford it, we highly recommend Google’s Pixel 6a.
Samsung Galaxy A14 5G
For years, Motorola dominated the budget Android phone market, but lately, Samsung has started offering great phones that deliver a solid list of features at a wallet-friendly price.
The Samsung Galaxy A14 5G won’t win any design awards, but it’s an extremely tempting device for those on a budget looking for a big display, reliable processor, and a huge screen.
Samsung’s Galaxy A14 5G comes with a big, and bright, 6.6-inch edge-to-edge display that’s perfect for playing games or watching content like movies and TV shows.
The cameras won’t blow you away, but they’re serviceable. The device is also running Samsung’s latest software, Android 13, and the device will move to Android 14 down the road.
This is one of the cheapest 5G phones on the market and it currently sits right at the $200 price point.
Samsung Galaxy A13
The Samsung Galaxy A13 is another excellent budget option and it comes in two different forms, both of which fall under the $200 price point.
The LTE version of the Galaxy A13 has the larger display at 6.6-inches, but the Galaxy A13 5G’s display isn’t small. It has a 6.5-inch display. The screen size isn’t the only difference though.
While the Galaxy A13 5G has a very solid triple camera setup, the LTE model actually has a quad-camera array which may be more enticing than 5G connectivity for some.
The 5G model has a better processor, more RAM, and more onboard storage, but the display and cameras on the LTE model make it a worthy competitor.
Samsung Galaxy A03S
We promise, Samsung devices aren’t the only sub-$200 phones on this list, but we’d be remiss not to include the Galaxy A03S on this list.
The Galaxy A03s is yet another solid, affordable device from Samsung. It offers a very large battery that can pull down excellent battery life, a bright 6.5-inch display, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for added security, and decent enough cameras.
It’s not going to blow you away with its power, and you may need to expand storage with a microSD card, but its price point is an extremely pill to swallow. It’s one of the cheaper devices on this list.
Make sure you go hands-on with the Galaxy A03S before you make a decision.
Moto G Play
The Moto G Play from 2021 is one of Motorola’s best budget devices because it offers amazing battery life. Motorola says it can last for three days at a time and it’s not lying.
It doesn’t have the best display, but the 6.5-inch screen is more than acceptable at this price point. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, something many consumers still want, and it has a dual-camera setup for photos and videos.
One draw back is that it’s running Android 11 and won’t go any further. That being said, Motorola will continue to upgrade the device with bug fixes and security fixes.
The main draw here is the exceptional battery life so if that’s a feature at the top of your list, you’ll definitely want to consider the Moto G Play.
There is a newer version of the Moto G Play (2023), but we like the older model a little bit better.
Yes, Nokia still makes phones. And yes, it makes a quality budget Android phone.
The Nokia G20 is a top notch choice for those looking to get a big battery, large display (6.52-inches), quad camera setup, and software that doesn’t come with bloat.
While many of the devices we’ve listed here come with skinned versions of Android, the Nokia G20 runs a very clean version of Android One. Loads of people love stock Android and you might too.
You don’t get fast charging and it doesn’t support every single U.S. carrier, but the Nokia G20 is a fantastic value buy and worthy of your consideration.
OnePlus Nord N200
OnePlus makes some fantastic devices and its budget Nord N200 is absolutely worth a look.
It has a large 6.49-inch display that offers 90Hz refresh rate, a very solid triple-camera setup, 4G of RAM, a microSD card slot for expanded storage, and a large battery that can deliver good battery life. And then there are some other bells and whistles.
The OnePlus Nord N200 also comes with 5G connectivity, face unlock, a fingerprint reader mounted on the back for added security, and 18W fast charging.
It’s a solid package and is among our favorite budget options at the moment.
TLC 20 SE
If you want an absolutely enormous display, and don’t want to pay a whole lot, make sure you check out the TLC 20 SE.
The TLC 20 SE has a 6.82-inch LCD display which makes it a perfect device for gaming and content consumption. It will serve you well if you like to watch shows and movies while traveling.
In addition, it comes with a quad-camera setup, a huge battery, face unlock, a fingerprint scanner, and a good amount of internal storage that can be expanded.
It doesn’t work on all U.S. carriers, but it’s a device that should have your attention if you don’t want to break the bank.
You really don’t need to spend a ton of money on a smartphone these days, at least if you don’t want to. Just a few years ago, $200 got you a terrible phone with outdated software, low-resolution screens, and single rear cameras. Now, you can get highly capable devices with in-display fingerprint sensors and beautiful edge-to-edge screens.
Throughout 2023 you’ll be quite surprised by just how much you can get for $200, and we’ll be seeing more great budget phones as the year moves ahead.
